Restriction of physical movement

The period immediately after the surgery could come with some pain and discomfort as the scar begins to recover. The doctor will most likely restrict you from too much physical movement because this is likely to lead to straining. You should also avoid bending and lifting weights in the meantime. If your job does not involve any form of lifting of weights you should generally be ready to go back to work after seven days. You need to consult your doctor so that they advice you on the best time to go back to work, which will be highly dependent on the type of breast augmentation surgery you will have gone through. Your recovering after breast augmentation surgery will also depend on how strictly you follow the surgeon’s post surgery instructions.

Pain and soreness

It is normal for the pain and soreness to persist during the first 24 – 48 hours after the surgery and you will also feel some form of tiredness. You should be careful to continue taking all the prescribed medication even at this time whether you feel uneasy or not. It is important to arrange to have an attentive and responsive person to take care of you during the post surgery period and this is where a close relative or friend will come in handy.

Removing the dressings

You will come out of hospital with gauze dressings and you have to remove them from your breasts a few days after the surgery after which you will need to put on a surgical bra. The stitches won’t stay for long and they are usually removed after 7 – 10 days but the doctor should give you the exact dates when this is going to happen.

Breast sensitivity

It is your sole responsibility to be extremely careful during the first few weeks after surgery so that you can aid your breast surgery recovery. Your breasts will generally be sensitive at this time and this will continue for a period of up to five weeks or slightly more or less. Protect your breast from any physical contact and where necessary you should physically ward off contact so as to avoid any form of injury. If you were doing any exercises you could resume them not less than one month after the surgery.
