During those first days of treatment there were numerous complications because of the health complications that arose and this led to the banning of silicone injections especially in USA until very recently.
Modern day breast implants
The modern day implants have their beginning at around 1962 when silicone came back to the market but this time in form of an implant. This is the first time an implant was used where silicone gel was enveloped in a silicone shell with the purpose of using for breast augmentation procedures. There were still a few other complications here and there but it is the introduction of this new silicone implant that completely changed the face of breast enlargement procedures. This new design created an implant that looked most natural and also felt the same way.
Withdrawal of silicone implants
Numerous safety concerns came up again leading to the withdrawal of silicone implants in the 1980s because several women presented with health problems that were said to be related to the implants. This led to the disappearing of silicone again for a few years until they surfaced much later after the issues were addressed.
Saline Implants
It is during this period that saline filled implants were introduced and they were actually deemed to be the safest implants that were used for a season on the breast augmentation market. Saline implants are quite common nowadays and they are quite popular as well.
The return of silicone
The silicone implants made their way to the market again in 2006 after FDA re-approved them again and the new implants are fitted with several safety features and once again their popularity has continued to rise considerably.
